The CAUSE
Eduardo Bittar emerged as a prominent figure through street-level resistance activism in Venezuela from 2006 until August 6, 2017, laying the foundation for his political profile before projecting himself more forcefully in exile. Since then, he has consolidated his leadership of Rumbo Libertad, a movement that promotes libertarian and conservative principles against the Chavista regime, disseminating critiques through digital platforms and public statements that expose regime abuses and the betrayals of the “opposition.”
Operating from abroad since late 2017, Bittar has focused on exposing what he describes as controlled opposition dynamics, using social media and interviews to mobilize dissident voices outside traditional exile structures.
During the escalation of Venezuela’s crisis, Bittar positioned himself against traditional opposition leaders by criticizing their strategies, advocating instead for uncompromising resistance approaches. These positions and declarations framed Rumbo Libertad as an alternative to established groups, emphasizing grassroots mobilization over institutional politics.
Bittar’s profile grew within right-wing circles in Latin America as a non-establishment voice, gaining visibility through alliances with regional libertarian and conservative sectors, as well as critiques that resonated amid widespread disillusionment with opposition failures—positioning him as a dissident interpreter of the Venezuelan crisis for broader conservative audiences.
